Enough Rope
In 2003 the program producer for Enough Rope approached us to compose theme music for a new talk style program hosted by Andrew Denton. The program was to be aired in a late Monday night time-slot and was aimed at a mature but fairly broad audience. The style of the program was to be irreverent yet mature and not afraid of tackling difficult issues. The opening titles and graphics were to be of Andrew Denton walking through various animated sequences, so the theme music had to reflect all these elements, including a comfortable walking beat.
Once the brief was taken, Sonic ID composed an original piece of music which was then applied to the program opening and closing sequence, podcasts, television promos, DVDs, CDs and the website. The theme music won the 2003 APRA and Australian Screen Composers Guild Award for Best TV Theme and three years later is immediately recognizable as the theme music for the program.
When we wanted a musical intro for ENOUGH ROPE the brief was for something original, without trying too hard; welcoming, without being too soft. Sonic ID nailed it. The music brands the show.
