World Nomads Language Guides
In early 2006 travel insurance company World Nomads approached Sonic ID to create a series of ten language guides for their travel community. The brief was to create country based language guides to help travellers understand and learn a few basic local sayings. The aim was to provide a unique service to World Nomads customers and raise awareness of the World Nomads brand. The tone was to be energetic, personal, friendly, knowledgeable, reliable and fun.
Once the brief was taken, Sonic ID came up with a creative treatment for the series that bought the World Nomads logo – an Inca Man, to life. Inca Man is the personification of the typical World Nomad traveler; well traveled, independent, a friend, engaging, funny and up for anything. Once the main character was established, research was undertaken into each country and different scenarios were created for the Inca Man to learn some local phrases.
Sonic ID researched, wrote the scripts, cast the Inca Man and the local speakers, recorded and edited each podcast. In the editing process music and sound were used to create a rich, engaging and valuable series. Sonic ID also composed a unique audio brand for World Nomads, which was used in appropriate places throughout each podcast.
Sonic ID were involved in every stage of the process from idea creation to scripting and chapterising. We had no real idea how to get this produced and Sonic ID guided us every step of the way. We’ve had a phenomenal response to our podcasts with downloads exploding from day one and the project has met all brand expectations as well providing excellent cross sell opportunities. We look forward to partnering with Sonic ID for all our podcast and audio initiatives.
